Open Call: Funding & support for women-led deep tech Startups

The European Union has launched the third call for Women TechEU, an initiative aimed at supporting women-led deep tech startups across Europe. This program offers financial assistance and business development resources to early-stage startups, fostering innovation and promoting gender diversity in the tech sector.

Program overview

Women TechEU is a two-year EU-funded project designed to empower women entrepreneurs in the deep tech industry. Over the course of four calls, the program will support 160 startups, with a total budget of €12 million dedicated to advancing women-led innovation in Europe.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for the Women TechEU program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Leadership: The startup must be founded or co-founded by women, with at least one woman holding a top management position (CEO, CTO, or equivalent).
  • Ownership: Women must own a minimum of 25% of the company’s shares at the time of application.
  • Company Stage: The startup should be in the early stages of development, specifically before reaching Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7.
  • Registration: The company must be legally registered in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country for at least six months and not more than eight years prior to the application date.
  • Funding History: The startup should not have raised more than €1 million in equity funding and must not have received prior funding from similar EU programs such as Women TechEU or EmpoWomen.

Application process

Interested startups should prepare the following materials for submission:

  1. Company Information: Legal name, registration details and ownership structure.
  2. Eligibility Declaration: Confirmation of compliance with all program requirements.
  3. Pitch Deck: A comprehensive presentation detailing the business strategy, market potential cand financial projections.
  4. Team CVs: Resumes of the founding team and key members, formatted according to Europass standards.

All application materials must be submitted in English through the official Women TechEU application portal by the specified deadline.
